Looks like yesterday’s post got the vermin crawling out of their holes – and it wasn’t so much to do with a reaction from the comments on kottu. Someone who frequents achcharu sent me a copy and paste job on the tags that the post generated on that site, and sure enough, it seemed like the coterie of snarkretins had emerged to indulge in their favourite pastime of posting cliché-ridden, banal, platitudinal tags with intent to do just what I was describing in the post before this. Like fish rising to the bait.
Oh well, I guess little things please little folk with littler minds!
And it may be interesting to watch for more reactions – that is if you want to waste the time.

Come on now. This is more like taunting the mentally-challenged than baiting fish. Even fish aren’t this predictable! 😀

Another unfortunate side effect of people not taking up hobbies. Too much free time and not enough free thought.

Darwin – strange, that of all the ‘abusers’ out there, the only ones to react are those on achacharu. Predictable? Mentally challenged?? Weelll…

“It’s a novel way to waste time that’s for sure! Regarding the
negative comments, some of them can be quite mean and
tasteless, others scathingly astute and witty in a very snarky
‘i’ve always thought that but never said it’ sort of way.
I’d like to think that no blogger deserves that sort of treatment, but the reality is that there are some rather pretentious bloggers who have a very condescending style and pretty much beg to be snarked at.”

“Achcharu is a site to behold – not as a visual feast or
anything that mundane, but as an aggregator that has more to
offer than the few others that I, admittedly a neophyte at this
sort of thing, have come across. Unlike those just referred to,
Ach has a few more things going for it. For one, the tag-thing
is a feature that adds a whole lot to the experience of sussing
out a site. These ‘indicators’ can prove to be pertinent,
funny, […]”

Anon – Here’s the link to the quote ( https://javajones.wordpress.com/2007/03/19/a-pickle-of-sorts/ ) so anyone interested can ingest the whole thing in context.
And I did mean what I said at the time. You will, however, note that there are more than a few references to the ‘abuse’ factor and my views haven’t changed. For me, ach was a trip to begin with, but after the over-kill on Theena and then on RD and a few others (myself included), I figured that it is exactly what I described in the ‘Abuser and the Abused’ post – and I don’t want to have anything to do with such puerile bullshit. As I said, hurling shit from an inaccessible cover smacks of the worst form of cowardice.
But that’s just me of course!

Problem is most of the tags are now of the former category and very few, if at all, fall into the latter category. I also said this before I realised Ach was merely a personal soapbox of sorts for a group of people who didn’t handle personal critisism very well! Calling me ‘darwhine’ only illustrates that point further. Thank you.

If I were the person / people who run Ach I’d be worried that what started as a great idea with such unique features and good fun ideas is now becoming something that many have changed their mind about.
